There’s something quietly magical about York in December — the soft hush of the season, the twinkle of city lights, and the warmth that winter weddings seem to carry. Mary and Jonathan’s day at The Milner York (formerly The Principal) was everything we love: elegant, heartfelt, and steeped in subtle detail.

Mary & Jonathan
Mary and Jonathan’s wedding took place just before Christmas at The Milner York — a venue with elegance and charm, right in the heart of the city. Its characterful interiors and warm atmosphere set the tone for a day that felt considered and quietly celebratory.
The morning was calm and full of small moments — children playing nearby, a glass of fizz in hand, the hum of anticipation. Mary got ready with her bridal party, while Jonathan and his groomsmen prepared in black tie, bow ties neatly fastened and spirits high.
Their ceremony was surrounded by candlelight and seasonal florals in soft whites and greens — simple, fresh, and in keeping with the time of year. It was an emotional moment, shared closely with family and friends.
As the day unfolded, the city lights outside began to glow, adding a quiet magic to the evening. Guests gathered for dinner by candlelight, listened to heartfelt speeches, and enjoyed a relaxed celebration as the night drew in.
We’re always drawn to the honest, unguarded parts of a wedding day — and with Mary and Jonathan, those moments were everywhere. Thoughtful, intimate, and beautifully timed with the season, theirs was a day that felt completely their own.
