Engagement Sessions

Our engagement sessions are relaxed, simple and entirely unposed. They give us time to meet properly before the wedding day and allow you to experience how we work — without timelines, guests or expectation. Often it’s just a walk somewhere meaningful or somewhere with beautiful light, letting conversation and movement guide everything naturally. By the time your wedding arrives, the camera feels familiar rather than new.

Okay, I’m casually sobbing! Where do we sign for the wedding?

They are absolutely amazing!

Most couples leave feeling far more at ease about the camera and with a set of photographs that reflect this chapter of life as it is now.

FAQs

Any time from a few months after booking up to a few weeks before the wedding works well. Many couples choose spring or early autumn for softer light and quieter surroundings, but there’s no strict season — it’s simply about finding a time when you can slow down and enjoy it without feeling rushed.

When is the best time to have an engagement session?

1

The most important thing is choosing somewhere you feel comfortable. That might be a favourite walk, somewhere you spend time together, or simply a location with beautiful, open light. We’re always happy to suggest ideas if you’re unsure, but there’s no expectation for it to be rural or remote — the setting just needs to feel right for you.

Where do sessions usually take place?

2

We recommend choosing outfits that feel like you, just slightly more considered. Neutral or muted tones tend to photograph beautifully and avoiding large logos or busy patterns helps keep the focus on the two of you. Once your session is booked, we’ll send over a short guide with more detailed suggestions and helpful pointers so you can feel fully prepared.

What should we wear?

3

Completely. Most couples tell us this at first. The session is designed to feel easy and informal, with no pressure to perform or pose. We keep direction minimal and allow things to settle naturally, and it usually doesn’t take long before the camera fades into the background.

We’re a bit nervous about being photographed — is that normal?

4

There’s no strict time limit but we found our sessions are somewhere between 1-2 hours. We usually allow enough time for a relaxed wander and a pause or two along the way, without it ever feeling like a structured shoot. The aim is simply to create space for natural photographs without rushing.

How long does a session last?

5

Can we bring our dog?

6

Absolutely! If they’re part of your everyday life, it often makes sense for them to be part of this too. Just let us know in advance so we can discuss timelines and locations.

Yes — once your session is in the diary we’ll send over a short guide with more detail on locations, timing, clothing and what to expect on the day. It’s there simply to answer any further questions you might have and help everything feel straightforward and relaxed.

Will we get more information before the session?

7

Our own approach to photo and video is rooted in observation rather than direction. If that way of working feels right for you, you can find more information here.
